Happiness Surrounds
Hello, Hello!
I trust you all had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend! Ours was just us 3, yet very blessed!
It’s time to really kick it in gear with Christmas cards! I usually start sooner than this, and I do have a few cards made. However, since I send about 75 or so to family, friends, and son’s teachers and this year have some more of my own teacher friends and board members from baseball…I better make a whole lot more than what I have so far!! In the past I designed 1 card and then make them for everyone using an assembly line process. Since becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and having many more than 1 or 2 stamp sets to choose from, I have made a few designs and then assembly line those. This year, I am just making whatever I feel like making! Might make more than 1 of a few of them, might make a whole bunch of them! You’ll see as I go what I create this year! Largely it will depend on time! Assembly lining is very quick and easy. Creating all new takes a little longer…however, inspiration abounds all over the internet!
For example, I wanted to make a card today using the Happiness Surrounds stamp set and Thinlits since it is only on sale until the end of the week (Nov 30th) and I had yet to use the set. I know, shame on me letting other stuff get in the way of my crafting! Nothing concrete was coming to mind, so I went to the computer and looked up 2 of my favorite challenge blogs and decided to put them together!
First, I needed colors and these are some lovely ones:
Then, I needed a sketch:
I chose the Tranquil Tide cardstock as my base, the Cherry Cobbler cardstock as my layer, and the Mint Macaron cardstock for my snowflake and sentiment. After that, it all came together faster than I thought it would…it just flowed right out of my fingers with no hiccups at all! Ok, there was one at the very end when I realized I had put the snowflake on upside down! Ugh! Luckily the Tombo Liquid glue had not set yet and I was able to spin it around! Shhh, don’t tell! Hahaha!
Here is the card for CAS Colours & Sketches, which means Clean And Simple:
Darn glitter gets a little crazy, those extra sparkles blow off, luckily. I really like the simplicity of the card! I used my stamping sponge quarter to distressed the sentiment star with Tranquil Tide and added a rhinestone that was clear but I colored it with a red sharpie. You can get red rhinestones from Stampin’ Up!, I just keep forgetting to put them on my order. The silver glitter paper is a fun addition to make it feel like Christmas…cool and snowy! Wish we would get some snow!
For Sketch Saturday, I turned it up a notch and added background stamping using Versamark and distressed the edges for a framed look on both the Tranquil Tide and the Cherry Cobbler. Plus, I added 2 more rhinestones.
Here is how this one turned out:
I also flipped the 3 glitter paper lines back over to the side that the sketch was on. Not that I had to…just wanted to make them different. I did the inside of both cards the same using a sentiment from the Nature Sings stamp set (which happens to be 10% today Nov. 26th!) and the border stamp from the Happiness Surrounds.
Let me know which one you like better!
Thank you for reading and taking this crafting journey with me! It’s nice to have you along! Enjoy your Stampin’, Scrappin’, and Craftin’ journey and feel free to share with me!
Blessings, June

The die cut snowflakes (on both cards) are fabulous! The glitter and rhinestones add an extra touch of festiveness. Thanks so much for making CC&S part of your crafting time!
