#GDP170 – Sketch Challenge
Christmas Day ended up being a play day for us here in our little family. The guys played on the computer and I found this challenge to work on! Happy Day!
I have decided to pick a few challenges to do each week/month and stick with them on a regular basis. Since Global Design Project is all Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, I figure it’s a good one for me to find inspiration with our products and learn a thing or two from some very talented folks!
Here is this week’s challenge sketch…actually, due to the holidays, it’s 2 weeks. I’m a jump ahead! WooHoo!
And here is my take on the card using my current favorite color combination in all areas of my life right now…purple and green…Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green in Stampin’ Up! color names.
I had ordered a stamp set called Amazing Life from the 2019 Occasions catalog and thought I would use it along with the lovely Organdy Ribbon from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. January 3rd will be here soon!
My base is Whisper White cardstock with Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green cut with the new Stitched Rectangles. I use the Stitched Squares and Circles a lot and knew that I would have to have the rectangles in my collection! Plus, it was a Bundle, and who doesn’t like bundles?! They work a little differently because they show a stitching on both sides of the cut. I will have to practice more with them as I had to run them through a few times to get it cut all the way through. I am sure it was user error! Feel free to leave me a tip below if you have one!
I used my Big Shot to cut not only the stitched Rectangles, but also the ‘Amazing’ from the Celebrate You thinlits. I did it in Basic Black and Granny Apple Green to help it stand out a bit more. I used Gorgeous Grape for the cake and Granny Apple Green for the corner designs. Tuxedo Black was used for the side sentiment on the Granny Apple Green cardstock. I like making the pieces a little wonky…kinda like me! 😉
You can see the layers. I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the words to each other and to the ribbon. Then I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere it all to the card.
Inside I put another sentiment and added some embellishment. Not sure who started the trend of putting the embellishment in the corner and the sentiment on the bottom, but I saw it on a You Tube video from Connie Stewart and thought it looked neat. What are you thoughts on it? We’ll see when I send this card how I like it. It’ll be weird to write above versus below. 🙂
Thank you for reading and taking this crafting journey with me! It’s nice to have you along! Enjoy your Stampin’, Scrappin’, and Craftin’ journey and feel free to share and CASE with me! I love to see what others create!
